To highlight the occasion, the Opelousas General Health System (OGHS) Foundation runs an annual initiative known as “Paint the Town Pink” (PTTP) to help engage the local community in raising awareness — and money — for the cause.

Increasing the public’s awareness about breast cancer is important and requires dedication through action. In 2017, nearly 253,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in women and more than 2,500 were found in men living within the United States.

Morrow, Morrow, Ryan, Bassett & Haik is proud to be a sponsor of the 2018 PTTP campaign. Created in 2008, its primary goal is to educate the community about breast cancer and provide free mammograms and screenings to those who qualify. Because of this service, the program ultimately relies on sponsors for monetary support to drive its ongoing success.

The theme for this year is “Break a Record, Find a Cure.”  In addition to a variety of month-long events, the OGHS team is asking the Opelousas community to join in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing a “Paint The Town Pink” t-shirt or pink item every Friday in October. T-shirts will be available for sale in the OGHS Main Campus lobby beginning Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (while supplies last).

To become a sponsor, purchase a t-shirt or learn more about the PTTP initiative, visit the Opelousas General Health System website for more information.
